Tutorium Paths to University Study

Students walking across the UIC campus

Your path to UIC starts with the Tutorium.

Here are two ways the Tutorium can help you join a UIC degree program:

Path #1: Apply to our IEP First

You can start by applying to the UIC Tutorium Intensive English Program.

UIC Tutorium IEP → UIC degree program

  1. Apply to the Tutorium Intensive English program.
  2. Apply to an undergraduate or graduate UIC program while in a UIC Tutorium IEP program. (Students are allowed to apply to UIC while in the Tutorium program. A letter confirming this can be provided if needed.)

UIC Tutorium IEP → UIC Accelerator Program → UIC Undergraduate Degree Program

  1. Study full-time in the UIC Tutorium Intensive English Program
  2. Apply to the UIC Accelerator Program while in a UIC Tutorium IEP program.

Path #2: Apply first to UIC

You can start by applying to a UIC degree program.

UIC Application → Tutorium English Language Proficiency Assessment (ELPA) → Degree Program

  1. Apply to a UIC degree program.
  2. Use the UIC Tutorium ELPA in place of the TOEFL or IELTS test. The ELPA is an economical way to provide English proficiency scores when applying to a UIC degree program.

UIC Graduate Application → Tutorium IEP → Graduate/Professional Degree Program

  1. Apply to a UIC graduate program (meeting all admission criteria other than English language proficiency).
  2. We offer two options:
    1. Receive full admission with the requirement of taking Grad+Professional Skills.
    2. Receive deferred admission with the requirement of taking Intensive English pre-Grad.

UIC Undergraduate Application → Accelerator Program → Undergraduate Degree Program

  1. Apply to a UIC Undergraduate Degree
  2. Undergraduate Admissions refers students with lower admission criteria to the UIC Accelerator Program.
  3. Apply to the UIC Accelerator Program.
