How do I know if I should pay resident or non-resident tuition?
- If you need an I-20 from UIC, you do not qualify for resident tuition.
- If you do not need an I-20, see Residency Status Requirements – UAPS (uillinois.edu) to determine whether you qualify for resident tuition. Some information from the Residency Status Requirements page is below.
What if I’m an asylee, paroled, or refugee, or have other extenuating circumstances?

What if I’m an international student who has applied for permanent resident status in the United States?

- When you hold a temporary visa, you don’t qualify until your status for permanent residency has been approved.
What if I’m enrolling with a non-immigrant visa?
- If you are on a non-immigrant visa, you cannot establish in-state residency or qualify for in-state tuition.
Non-Intensive (part-time) Programs
Discount Available:
Returning students and members of UIC* receive a 5% tuition discount per course if they pay prior to the class start, and already have a UIC NetID. Applicants enter their UIC NetID on our payment page to see this discount applied to their course tuition.
*The discount does not apply to Grad+ Professional Skills students or those that need to pay their tuition through https://paymybill.uic.edu
