Many students wonder how and when to try to move to an undergraduate program or graduate school. For all schools, you will need to complete their application as a first step. (Read our article on the Common App.) When they receive your application, universities and colleges look at your past academic background and your English proficiency to decide admission.
- Your past high school or university transcripts show your academic background.
- Attending the Tutorium helps you meet the English language requirements. See Tutorium Paths to University Study
If you apply to an undergraduate or graduate program at UIC, here are some of the ways the Tutorium can help:
- If you pass the Tutorium Intensive English level 5 courses, the Tutorium can write a “letter of sufficient English” for admission to UIC. See Student Assessment in the Tutorium Student Handbook.
- Anyone applying to a UIC undergraduate or graduate program can take the Tutorium’s English Language Proficiency Assessment (ELPA) in place of TOEFL or IELTS for proof of their English language skill. See ELPA Policies.
