UIC Tutorium offers a one-time award for high achieving, full-time, full-semester Intensive English Program (IEP) students who plan to continue in the IEP the next semester as full-time, full-semester students. UIC Global students do NOT qualify for this award.

  • Award Amount: The total award value ranges from $600 (resident tuition rate) to $1500 (non-resident tuition rate), which is comprised of…
    • a 20% discount applied to tuition
      • For those receiving other Tutorium discounts, the maximum amount for all discounts that can apply to a student account in one semester is 20%.
    • $150 coming from the Tutorium Scholarship fund
  • Nominations: IEP students may nominate themselves and/or other IEP students, OR UIC instructors may nominate an IEP student.
    • Please use the Recognition Award Nomination form to nominate yourself or a student.
    • IEP students nominating themselves or other IEP students must provide the name and email of their UIC instructors for their input.
  • Frequency and Deadlines: Two awards are administered each year.
    • One award is granted at the end of the fall semester applying to the spring semester. The application deadline for spring awards is November 1.
    • One award is granted at the end of the spring semester applying to the summer semester. The application deadline for summer awards is April 1.
  • Qualifications: Currently enrolled IEP students who are going to continue on to the next semester. The criteria below are taken into consideration to be chosen for the award. Students do not need to possess all of the criteria in order to receive the award. UIC Global students do NOT qualify for this award.
    • The nominated student has…
      • improved greatly over the course of the semester.
      • had good attendance and been consistently on time for class.
      • actively participated with the instructor and other students in class.
      • made great contributions to the learning atmosphere and other students in class.
      • demonstrated above average progress in formal assessments in class.
      • involved in Tutorium-sponsored extra-curricular initiatives (department newsletter, department events, social activities, local community events, etc.)
      • shown consistent effort to practice outside of class.
  • Award Decision: UIC Tutorium’s Oversight Committee reviews all nominees and their qualifications after the nomination form deadline in November and April. Award decisions are made and announced before the end-of-session celebration.
