Test Preparation Courses on campus Heading link
- Every week, students meet with an instructor and classmates for a four-hour class session.
- Every week, students have at least one to two hours of additional course work to complete outside of class.
- Students will be asked to purchase a textbook.
ELSI 071: TOEFL iBT Preparation
This 10-week course prepares students for the challenges of TOEFL iBT. This course helps students understand the test structure, learn how to complete each of the question types, and receive individualized teacher feedback on how to improve their scores.

ELSI 071: IELTS Preparation
This 8-week course gives an overview of what students can expect on the IELTS, then focuses on techniques for completing the reading, writing, listening, and speaking sections of the IELTS Academic test format. Students analyze sample tests to learn the different types of IELTS questions and practice the best ways to answer them.

Online TOEFL Test Preparation Courses Heading link
The following classes meet 100% online with a flexible schedule. There is no face-to-face, synchronous class time requirement.
- Students use the Blackboard learning management system to view course materials, submit assignments, and receive instructor feedback.
- Students can sign up for multiple courses.
- If you sign up for more than one course, you can take them all at the same time, or over 2-3 consecutive terms. Students will be asked to purchase a textbook.
ELSI 073: Online TOEFL Prep: Reading & Listening
This 5-week course focuses on learning strategies for succeeding on the Reading and Listening sections of the TOEFL iBT. Self-paced presentations teach you test strategies, and instructors assign detailed practice exercises and provide individualized weekly feedback and advice. Within the course schedule, you are able to work at your own pace reviewing presentations, studying vocabulary, and completing practice exercises and tests. This course meets 100% online with a flexible schedule.

ELSI 074: Online TOEFL Prep: Writing
This 5-week course combines grammar and writing instruction to help you prepare for the Writing section of the TOEFL iBT test. This course provides a review of problematic grammar concepts to help you produce error-free sentences. Self-paced presentations teach you about the appropriate content and organization of each of the two TOEFL Writing tasks. Each week, you write one essay and receive individualized feedback and advice from the instructor. This course meets 100% online with a flexible schedule.

ELSI 075: Online TOEFL Prep: Speaking
This 4-week course focuses on learning strategies for success in the Speaking section of the TOEFL iBT. Self-paced presentations teach you test strategies for each of the six TOEFL Speaking tasks, while speech templates help you organize and deliver an appropriate response. In this course, you work at your own pace reviewing presentations and sample speaking tasks and responses. Each week, you submit two recorded TOEFL Speaking responses to the instructor for individualized feedback and advice. This course meets 100% online with a flexible schedule.
